Slide 27 of 75
Notes:
Not only can a stream widen, but given the right soil conditions, it can cut down as well. In this slide, the stream has dropped several feet in elevation because of the increased stormwater flows, and the forested wetland in the floodplain is now hydraulically disconnected from the stream that sustained it.
